New to the Library of Virginia Collection the American Ornithology; or, The Natural History of the Birds of the United States: illustrated with plates engraved and colored from original drawings taken from Nature (1808-1825) by Alexander Wilson and another related work.

Wilson studied the birds in their natural habitats and also was the first to use the Linnaean System to classify the birds of North America, two hundred sixty-eight species in total.
