Edited by Elizabeth R. Herbener and Jon Kukla. Since Speaker Thomas Mathews called the House of Delegates to order on October 27, 1788, the Capitol of Virginia designed by Thomas Jefferson has been home to the oldest continuous representative assembly in the New World. The General Assembly of Virginia, 11 January 1978 - 27 April 1989: A Register of Members was published in 1990 as part of the 200th anniversary celebration of the Assembly. As a convenient reference book for use by legislators, students, journalists, and citizens, this volume supplements the massive retrospective compilation published by the Library in 1978 that contained membership lists for all General Assembly sessions from July 30, 1619 to January 11, 1978.

Edited by Elizabeth R. Herbener and Jon Kukla. Published in 1990 for the General Assembly of Virginia.
